Judge Scott Gardner is the District Judge for Division “G” of the Twenty-Second Judicial District Court of the State of Louisiana.

Scott graduated from Tulane University with a degree in Public Policy, and from Tulane Law School. He was Chief of Trials in New Orleans, and was the Career Criminal Prosecutor at the DA’s office in Washington and St. Tammany Parish. He was elected district judge in the 22nd Judicial District in 2013. He has served on the Governor’s Domestic Violence Prevention Task Force, and Sex Trafficking Commissions. He created and implemented Gwen’s Law hearing protocols for felony cases in the 22nd JDC. He served on the Louisiana District Judges’ Association Executive Committee, and the LDJA Legislative Committee. He began and currently chairs the Family Justice Initiative. He is a member of the Louisiana Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. He has general jurisdiction, and additionally handles all delinquency and neglect cases in his district. He supervises two of the seven Family Preservation Courts in Louisiana. He serves on the Louisiana Family Preservation Court Oversight Committee. His team has introduced innovations for families and children, including Best for Baby and the Kidsense Waiting Room. He is a graduate of the Early Childhood Policy Leadership Initiative. He regularly presents on topics germane to families in court, including child development, family violence, ACE training, and the pitfalls of congregate care. He has received the Pearl Williams Leadership Award, Champions for Children, and the CASA Judge of the Year.

RULES FOR PARTICIPATING IN VIRTUAL HEARINGS:

All Court rules on attire and conduct in Court for attorneys, participants and witnesses remain in effect, which includes, but is not limited to the following:

1.      Proper attire is required for all Virtual hearings. You must be fully dressed and seated in a chair. No party is to have on sleepwear, hats, shorts, tank tops, flip flops or bare midriffs and shirts-tails must be tucked in. No party appearing by Zoom may be smoking, eating or drinking.

2.      No other persons, except attorneys of record, are permitted to be in the room during proceedings without prior Court approval.

3.      Neither the parties, their attorneys, nor their agents or assigns, are to photograph or record by any means any part of the proceeding. Violation of these Court orders shall be considered grounds for a finding of contempt of court.

4.      Participants shall not be in close proximity to each other as this may cause audio and video transmission issues.

5.      No witness shall have documents or notes in front of them while testifying unless given permission by the Court. The Court may, in its discretion and at any time, request participants to adjust the web camera to show anything a witness may appear to be reading during a proceeding.

6.      Your phone should properly identify you with your given name.
